Walsden Cricket Club – CCTV Policy
- Policy Statement
Walsden Cricket Club (“WC&BC”) uses closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to monitor and record activities within its grounds and facilities. The primary purposes are to enhance the security of members, guests, and staff, protect Club property, deter criminal activity, and assist with incident investigations.
This policy explains how CCTV images are managed, stored, and shared, in line with the Club’s commitment to data protection and privacy laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Purpose of CCTV Use
The Club’s CCTV system is used for:
- Ensuring the safety and security of members, visitors, players, and staff.
- Protecting Club premises, property, and equipment.
- Assisting with the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime.
- Supporting insurance claims and internal incident investigations.
CCTV is not used for monitoring staff performance or for any purpose unrelated to the stated objectives.
- Scope
This policy applies to:
- All CCTV systems operated by the Club.
- All individuals whose images are captured by the system, including members, staff, volunteers, guests, and visitors.
- System Operation
- CCTV cameras are located at key points throughout the Club’s grounds and buildings, including entrances, car parks, and key facilities.
- Cameras are clearly visible and appropriate signage is in place informing people they are being monitored.
- Cameras will not be used in areas where individuals have a heightened expectation of privacy (e.g., changing rooms or toilets).
- Data Storage and Access
- Recorded images are stored securely and are kept for a maximum of 30 days unless required for investigation purposes, in which case images may be retained for longer until the issue is resolved.
- Access to recorded footage is restricted to authorised personnel only, specifically the Club Committee members responsible for security.
- Footage may be shared with law enforcement authorities when legally required or permitted.
- Individual Rights
- Individuals have the right to request access to CCTV footage where they are identifiable, under the “Subject Access Request” process.
- Requests must be made in writing to the Club Secretary at [enquiries@walsdencandbc.co.uk].
- The Club will respond to requests within one calendar month, in line with data protection legislation.
- Disclosure of Images
- Disclosure of CCTV footage to third parties will only be done where legally permissible, such as:
- Law enforcement agencies for crime prevention or detection.
- Legal representatives in connection with litigation or insurance claims.
- The Club will maintain a record of all disclosures.
- Responsibilities
- The Club Committee is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy.
- Regular reviews will be carried out to ensure the system remains effective, necessary, and compliant with current laws.
- Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if there are significant changes to the use of CCTV or related legislation.
